It is not profitable to use Kazakh coal after the modernization of Bishkek HPP, the expert Rasul Umbetaliev said on April 3.
According to him, the government offers Electric stations JSC to purchase 550,000 tons of Kazakh coal. Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Duishenbek Zilaliev has repeatedly stated that in 2017 the Bishkek HPP would completely switch to the use of local coal, and import purchase is often associated with corruption.
However, the head of Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev said that it would be impossible to abandon imported coal, since Bishkek’s Heating and Power Plant was forced to use part of the old equipment intended for burning of Kazakh fuel.
“He is misleading the country’s leadership and the population. In 2016-2017, about 500,000 tons of Shabyrkul coal, 500,000 tons of local coal were purchased. This indicates that local fuel is used at the heating plant in sufficient quantities,” Rasul Umbetaliev said.
He added that buying Kazakh coal, Electric Stations suffers many million losses, because they work not directly, but through intermediate sellers. And the contract is signed in dollars. (24.kg/Ukrainian metal)
