In January Ukraine imported 78.373 thousand tons of nickel ore and concentrate valued at $3.74 million, up by 18.5% but down by 27.8% YoY respectively.

According to the State Fiscal Service, all the raw materials came from Guatemala.

Last month Ukraine did not export or re-export these products, while in January 2016 it exported 51 tons of nickel raw materials valued at $17 thousand. The only consumer in January 2016 was Hong Kong.

In 2016 Ukraine decreased nickel ore imports by 6.2% YoY, to 1.372 million tons valued at $69.977 million, down by 19.1%. Guatemala again was the only supplier.

Last year Ukraine exported 502 tons of raw materials valued at $94 thousand tons. Hong Kong (54.26%), the Netherlands (24.47%) and Germany (12.77%) were the main importers.

In Ukraine nickel ore is imported by Pobuzhye Ferronickel Plant. The company processes some 1.2 million tons of ore per year. (Ukrainian metal)
