In 2016 Ukraine exported 37.7 million tons of iron ore raw materials, down by 7.8 million tons YoY.

According to the state enterprise Ukrpromvneshexpertisa, the largest drop in exports was to China – by 9.6 million tons. This market is the farthest and the less competitive for Ukrainian suppliers. On the other hand, Serbia and Japan showed the most growth in exports – by 650 thousand tons and by 575 thousand tons respectively.

Concentrate exports dropped the most – by 5.8 million tons, with pellets exports down by 2 million tons, while ore deliveries increased by 85 thousand tons. Sinter was not exported in 2016.

In 2017 deliveries to the local market are expected to grow by 1 million tons. Exports might increase by 3-4 million tons. (Ukrainian metal)
