In 2016 miners of the Amur region yielded over 3.4 million tons of energy-generating coal, up by 100 thousand tons YoY.

Amur coal is mined at Yerkovetsky and Severo-Vostochny open-pit mines and is supplied to Blagoveschensk thermal power plant, Raichikhinsk state district power plant and a number of housing enterprises.

It was in Amur region that in 1930-th the first open-pit mines were opened in the Soviet Union. The estimated reserves of the Yerkovetsky deposits will last for 200 years. (Ukrainian metal)
