2 years ago Karaganda Silicon Works was put back into operation after a long idle period. Now it plans to produce 23 thousand tons of products per year.
Purity of the silicon produced at the works is almost 99%. The raw material base of the company is its own quartz deposits of 4 million tons.
50% of the products are sold to the North America, with 40% going to Europe and some 10% to Belarus. (Ukrainian metal)
