PJSC «MMC «Norilsk Nickel» has signed the contract on sulfur dioxide capture project for Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant located at the company’s Polar Division with SNC-Lavalin, Canada. The Board of Directors of the company approved of the contract on November 7.

The contract is divided into two phases: developing a detailed project design documentation (first phase) and execution of the project (second phase). Decision on the second phase will be taken by the company upon completion of the first phase.

Contract value is approximately $1.7 billion excluding VAT.

NMP Sulfur Project is a major environmental initiative forming an inherent part of the company’s downstream modernization program. The project targets a drastic reduction of sulfur dioxide emissions through implementation of the most efficient technical solutions. (Nornickel/Ukrainian metal)
