Lvivugol miners gathered at the Lviv regional state administration demanding their salary debts for August valued at 78 million UAH to be cleared.
According to the first deputy head of the Lviv regional state administration Rostislav Zamlinsky, the Ministry of energy and coal industry promised to pay 30% of the salary on October 10. The rest will be paid by the end of next week.
One of the reasons for indebtedness is the high cost price of coalmining.
“To decrease cost price we have to increase coal output and modernize mines. We have several times asked the ministry for more expenditures”, he said.
This year Lvivugol received more than 10 million UAH for development.
“But this is not enough. Still, this is the first step, since last time we saw money for modernization in 2009”, the official added.
In order to modernize all Lvivugol mines and long faces it needs over 1 billion UAH. (Ukrainian metal)
