To stop deindustrialization processes Ukraine has to consume 12 million tons of rolled metal per year, according to Ukrpromvneshexpertiza director Vladimir Vlasyuk.
“As of today the metal that needs to be replaced equals some 80%. If we take old pipes or structures, all this volume of metal might exceed 400 million tons. This means we have not just to replace the old infrastructure, we have to disassemble it and construct anew in the regions that need to be developed”, he said.
“The state has to support various programs that provide for economy and infrastructure modernization, structural changes, and this will lead to rolled metal consumption growth”, he added.
Last year Ukraine consumed 3.4 million tons of rolled metal. (Ukrainian metal)
