In January-August Ukraine imported 5.2 million tons of cocking coal from Russia, up by 62% YoY.
This equals 66.5% of all the coking coal imported.
According to Ukrkoks general director Anatoly Starovoit, Russian coal is highly important for Ukraine.
In 8 months Ukraine mined 4 million tons of coking coal and imported 7.8 million tons. Apart from Russia, deliveries came from USA and Canada (2.2 million tons, 28%), Kazakhstan (277 thousand tons, 3.5%) and Poland (138 thousand tons, 1.8%). (Ukrainian metal)
