Metinvest has approved of the continuous casting machine reconstruction project of Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works. The repair will cost $150 million.
This project will make the converter shop of Ilyich work at full capacity.
After the construction of the new continuous casting machine Ilyich steel output will increase by 1-1.5 million tons, to 4-4.5 million tons.
In 2015 the company produced 2.64 million tons of steel and 3.57 million tons of pig iron, down by 25% and 15% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
