In April Zaporizhstal decreased natural gas consumption to 12 million cubic meters.
The April record was the result of hundreds of energy efficiency measures taken at the company.
“But we are not going to stop. Our goal this year is to reach natural gas consumption on the level of 10 million cubic meters per month”, said the company CEO Rostislav Shurma.
Zaporizhstal is finishing the work on using secondary gas mixes instead of natural gas at its sintering machines; it also wants to substitute gas at blast furnaces No. 4 and 5 and starts a number of other projects on gas savings.
“In 5 years we have decreased gas consumption more than 5 times. That’s our contribution to the energy independence of Ukraine”, added Shurma. (Ukrainian metal)
