In January-March Ukraine procured 614 thousand tons of scrap. That’s the lowest result for the past 20 years. And the first time that the procurement can’t meet the local demand.
In Q1 metal companies needed 790 thousand tons of scrap, so the procurement was 22% short of the target.
Ferrous scrap procurement in March totaled 261 thousand tons, while metal companies needed 10% (or 28 thousand tons) more. March scrap procurement was down by 32% YoY and by 45% as compared with 2014. In Q1 procurement fell by 38% YoY and by 49% to Q1 2014. (Ukrainian metal)
