After Russia imposed the 5% import duty on Ukrainian metal products ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has stopped deliveries to this country altogether.

On January 1, Ukraine cancelled its own import duties, while Russia imposed them, having stopped the free trade agreement.

At the same time most metal products come to Ukraine from Russia.

“We don’t export anything to Russia at the moment. We have to pay duties when we sell there, but why don’t Russian exporters pay anything? We have talked to the experts; they said the WTO wouldn’t support us. But the situation with Russia is a special one. It is the largest supplier of metal products to our market, and at the same time it is an aggressor. Why aren’t there mirror sanctions?” says AMKR communications director Vladimir Tkachenko.
