Lviv region miners have been on strike since January 2, as they haven’t been paid salary for 2 months. If the debt is not cleared this week, they will block international roads. They agreed to wait for money until January 9.

“Delays in salary payment started in autumn 2014 when the dollar began to rise. At first the management promised to pay us, but now they say there is no money. And when we threatened to go on a strike, they said they would close the mines and we would be left without our jobs”, say Stepnaya mine workers from Chervonograd.

The Ministry of energy and coal industry says all they have to do is prepare the necessary documents. After that the miners will start receiving their salary. (Ukrainian metal)
