Miners union is displeased with the meeting with the minister for energy and coal industry Vladimir Demchyshin.
“The primary unions from Volyn region met the minister. But didn’t have constructive negotiations. Instead his part-time counselor Andrei Vengrin made us a corruption offer. This confirms that Demchysin breeds corruption. So far there is indebtedness to all state coal industry companies”, said the Independent Miners Union of Ukraine chairman Mikhail Volynets.
The confrontation between the coal industry workers and authorities has been going on for almost a year, with several strikes and trips to Kiev. The confrontation was the result of the many months of non-payment of salary and closing of mines. Only after mass strikes a part of the debt has been paid to the miners. (Ukrainian metal)
