Zaporizhstal, a part of the Metinvest Group of Companies, expects the Ministry for infrastructure to prolong winter navigation on the river Dnepr, to decrease metal transportation costs.

“Infrastructure minister Andrei Pivovarsky has promised us the navigation would be prolonged”, said the company CEO Rostislav Shurma.

He added that the works used Dnepr to ship 50% of its products, thus saving on transportation, as the company is close to the river. Moreover transportation times are decreased by 20 days. River deliveries are carried out to Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece.

The decrease of cost price in this case is $3-10 per ton. (Ukrainian metal)
