The so-called Donetsk People’s Republic increases coal mining. In September “the republic” mined around 1 million tons of coal. At the same time, in June 2014, before the military activities began in the region, it yielded 2.8 million tons of coal per month. Thus, the now Ukraine-uncontrolled territories mine one third of the pre-war volumes. At the beginning of the year coal was mined on the level of 300 thousand tons per month. The output started growing when the shelling ceased considerably – in August.
Ukraine remains the main buyer of A and T grades coal.
“We have agreed on the price. It was 1350 UAH (per ton), but it didn’t suit us. Now it’s 1700 UAH”, said a source in the DPR.
