Metinvest Group of Companies has applied to the Anti-monopoly committee of Ukraine asking for permission to purchase the Dneprodzerzhinsk By-product Coke Plant, owned by the Russia-based Evraz.

“We have a certain interest in this company, so we have applied to the Anti-monopoly committee of Ukraine and to Serbia. The plant now belongs to no one”, said the Metinvest CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov.

According to him, “Metinvest companies are experiencing problems with coke supplies because of the military activity in the East of Ukraine”.

“We all know what happens with Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works, Donetsk and Yenakievo companies. We have several ways of coke supplies. That’s China that supplied coke to us last year, and Russia. Since Dneprodzerzhinsk Coke produces what Evraz doesn’t need, we buy out almost all this for Metinvest”, said Ryzhenkov. That’s about 400 thousand tons of coke.

In December 2014 Commission for competitiveness protection of the Republic of Serbia allowed Metinvest to buy Dneprodzerzhinsk By-product Coke Plant. Metinvest was allowed to purchase 94.55% of the company shares. (Ukrainian metal)
