For the first time since the beginning of 2014 Ukrainian metal sector has shown some rise. August results confirm the first half-year trend in output increase. In August Ukrainian companies produced 9% more steel, than a year ago.

Rolled metal output grew by 11.5%, that of pig iron – by 28%, all YoY.

The main reason for such a considerable increase is the low comparison base.

Active military actions and grand-scale destructions a year ago resulted in the halt of many manufacturing facilities. Since then some of them renewed their work, which affected the increase indexes.

Most of the companies were able to restore mostly blast furnace manufacture (seen by the high rise in pig iron output), but the further processing of pig iron into steel and rolled metal is still handicapped by many problems. (Ukrainian metal)
