Metinvest Group has sent additional 10 million UAH to rebuild Avdiivka, suffering from almost constant shelling.
In the first half year of 2015 Metinvest invested over 8 million UAH into the town reconstruction.
According to the company press-service, Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works has reconstructed 2 multi-storied houses, carried out repairs in the central hospital and the culture house. Repairs of 2 schools, a kindergarten, a musical school and the youth arts center are almost finished. Repairs of 11 multi-storied houses are still underway.
Repair documentation for 19 multi-storied houses has been prepared.
The works provides private sector citizens with free construction materials.
By the end of the year Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Works plans to have repaired roofs, walls, heating and water supply in 50 multi-storied houses, over 30 private houses and 9 social objects (a hospital, schools, kindergartens, culture houses).
“Unfortunately, Avdiivka happened to stand on the line of fire. Townsfolk and the Works employees had to face all the horrors of the war. And in this situation help and support are worth a lot. Reconstruction of the town is not just repairs, it’s a sign that the life goes on, that people were not left alone, and that another life is possible – peaceful life. Avdiivka citizens can always count on the Works and the Metinvest Group”, said the group CEO Yuri Ryzhenkov.
The town and the works have been under regular artillery and mortar shelling since last summer. The latest shelling was on July 27. For the past year over 300 shells exploded on the works territory. 7 employees were killed. (Ukrainian Metal)
