State Enterprise Ukrpromvneshexpertiza has recorded the maximum level of ferrous scrap exports in June for the last 10 years.

“As of June ferrous scrap exports totaled 213 thousand tons, the maximum for the last 10 years. Higher results were in November 2004 (260 thousand tons), with the year results at 2.5 million tons”, said the company in its statement.

Ukrainian export prices for scrap (FOB) rose from $210-220 per ton in April to $250 in May, but in the beginning of July fell to $200-210 per ton.

In June 182 thousand tons, or 80%, of the scrap was supplied to Turkey, while 19%, or 45 thousand tons, went to Moldova.

The favorable price conditions on the foreign markets allowed the primary procurers to gather 0.5 million tons of scrap in June. In January-June Ukraine procured 2.4 million tons of scrap, down by 11%, or by 0.3 million tons YoY. (Ukrainian metal)
