The European Commission is imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of certain welded tubes and pipes of iron or non-alloy steel originating in Belarus, China and Russia and terminating the proceeding for imports of certain welded tubes and pipes of iron or non-alloy steel originating in Ukraine.
The investigation has shown that that supply of tubes and pipes from Ukraine will not cause damage to European producers. Only one Ukrainian exporting producer, the Interpipe Group, cooperated during the investigation (Interpipe Europe S.A., Lugano, Switzerland).
The duties for Russian companies of OMK Group are set at 10.1%, for companies of TMK Group – at 16.8% and for all other Russian companies – at 20.5%.
The duty for Belarusian companies is set at 28.1% and for Chinese companies – at 90.6%.
Interpipe CFO Denis Morozov said that the duty was canceled for welded pipes and tubes, which have a small share in the company’s portfolio.
“Even taking into account the cancellation of the duty we don’t plan to boost sales of the product as low profit can be received. Seamless pipes have the largest share of supplies to Europe and the duty of 13% is still imposed on them. The cancellation of this duty is important for us,” he said.
Interpipe is a vertically integrated steel pipe and railway wheel company. Interpipe is one of the world’s ten largest producers of steel pipe products, and a key player in the railway wheels industry. The company products are supplied to more than 80 countries all over the world through a chain of commercial offices located in the CIS, Europe, the United States and the Middle East.
