In 2014 steel consumption in Ukraine will reach 4 million tons as opposed to 7.1 million tons in 2013.

According to Vladimir Vlasyuk, CEO of Ukrpromvneshexpertiza, this was caused mostly by a decline in machine building (by 20.9%) and construction (by 18.6%).

In 2015 steel consumption will continue to fall to 3.4 million tons. But if some major infrastructural projects are carried out, it might grow to 5.8 million tons.

“Infrastructure needs a lot of steel, and it must be repaired. Steel consumption potential in Ukraine is very great”, says Vlasyuk. (Ukrainian metal)
