Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that its crude steel production increased by 2% to 3.2 million tons in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. In the first nine months of the current year Metinvest produced 9.44 million tons of crude steel, down by 1% year on year.

In addition, in the third quarter Metinvest produced 2.5 million tons of finished steel products, up by 15% quarter on quarter, including 1.6 million tons of flats and 679,000 tons of long products. In the January-September period the company’s finished steel product output amounted to 6.97 million tons, remaining unchanged compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

In the third quarter the coking coal production of Metinvest decreased by 2% quarter on quarter to 2.97 million tons, while the company produced 9.07 million tons of iron ore concentrate, falling by 3% quarter on quarter. In the first nine months of the year the company’s coking coal production and iron ore concentrate output reached 8.9 million tons and 27.73 million tins, up by 1% and 2% respectively, both year on year.
