Ukraine’s steel industry produced 2.524 million tons of finished roll in January, 1% less than in the same month last year.
Crude steel production grew by 1% to 2.845 million tons and pig iron production also grew by 1% to 2.497 million tons. The country produced 94,000 tons of steel pipes, down by 47% YoY. Ukrainian coke production fell by 7% to 5.324 million tons, but hardware output was up by 6% to 17,000 tons.
Ukraine produced 6.718 million tons of crude ore in January, roughly as much as in the first month of 2011. Iron ore concentrate production fell by 1% to 5.581 million tons and sinter – by 3% to 3.679 million tons. Pellet output plummeted by 15% to 1.645 million tons. (SteelGuru)
