Ukrainian flat steel producer Mariupol Ilyich Iron and Steel Works has said that, following its September output decrease mainly caused by the accident at its power plant, in October this year it plans to produce 414,000 tons of pig iron, up by 12.5% MoM, and 500,000 tons of crude steel, up by 9% MoM.
In addition, in October, Ilyich has continued to implement a series of overhauls. In September, the plant carried out unscheduled repairs of the converter No.1 at its oxygen converter shop, while it is now carrying out repairs at the slab facility of its rolling mill 1700 and at its cold-rolling shop, and is effectuating maintenance works at its lime-kiln shop and its sinter plant.
Mr. Vladimir Boyko, general manager of Ilyich, said currently the most important thing for the plant was to ensure the implementation of its working schedule and to operate the rolling mills 1700 and 3000 at full capacity. (SteelOrbis)
