It is reported that Ukrainian steel mills increased their flats exports by 17.9% MoM in August to reach 467,400 tons. Hot-rolled coil exports jumped by 25.8% MoM to 381,300 tons, cold-rolled products’ exports had a reverse downside trend of 26.6% MoM to 55,900 tons and other hot-rolled flats exports soared by 74.7% MoM to 30,300 tons.
According to a Millennium Capital analyst “The news is neutral for Ukrainian flats makers. Hot-rolled steel producers took advantage of pre-Ramadan improved flats buyout by Turkey and Middle East countries made to replenish their stocks before prices go up after the holy month, however, more value-added cold-rolled steel exports went down which is especially negative for Ukraine’ largest cold-rolled steel producer Zaporizhstal.” (Millennium Capital)
