It is reported that the Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal has finished the construction and installation works at its new pulverized coal injection plant and plans to start hot testing in September.
The installment of PCI technology at the mill will allow Zaporizhstal to combine substantial economic and environmental benefits to switch completely from the use of expensive natural gas to coal dust and also to decrease the use of coke by 10% in blast furnace production.
The supplier of the PCI technology equipment is the German engineering company Küttner. The construction of the new PCI plant at Zaporizhstal started in February 2008. (SteelOrbis)
