According to the data for January, Ukrainian exports of steel pipes decreased by 4.9% YoY to 60,300 tons while the country semi-finished steel product exports dropped by 7.5% YoY to 838,320 tons.
During the first month of 2010, Ukraine exports of long steel increased by 84.5% YoY and by 20.7% MoM to 543,000 tons including 255,200 tons of rebar up by 40.2% YoY and 169,600 tons of wire rod up 2.85 times YoY. The leading buyer of Ukraine’s longs exports was Russia with 59,940 tons.
The country January exports of flat-rolled steel increased by 21% YoY and by 6% MoM to 533,490 tons. In January, the leading buyer of Ukraine flats exports was Turkey with 81,470 tons of HR products and 16,280 tons of CR products, followed by Russia with 61,630 tons of HR products and 11,170 tons of CR products. Also, a significant supply of flats was sent last month to Lebanon with 36,620 tons of HR products and 6,670 tons of CR products.
In addition, in January, Ukraine decreased its pig iron exports by 4.7% YoY to 84,450 tons but increased its coke exports by 16.5% YoY to 98,450 tons, raised its scrap exports 2.1 times to 29,900 tons and upped its iron ore exports 2.7 times to 2.592 million tons. (SteelOrbis)
