It is reported that in January to August 2009 Zaporozhye steel works Zaporozhstal has reduced output of finished steel products by preliminary data by 23.3% YoY in comparison with the same period of 2008 to 1.820 million tonnes.
As per report, during January to August steel smelting at the works reduced by 25.7% to 2.170 million tonnes, pig iron by 24% to 1.817 million tonnes, sinter output reduced by 16.5% to 3.223 million tonnes.
In August 2009 the works produced 236,000 tonnes of finished steel products, 276,000 tonnes of crude steel, 235,000 tonnes of pig iron and 400,000 tonnes of pig iron. As it was reported before in 2008 Zaporozhstal reduced its output of finished steel products in comparison with 2007 by 13.9% to 3.211 million tonnes, crude steel by 11.6% to 3.942 million tonnes, pig iron by 7.9% to 3.284 million tonnes, sinter by 3.7% to 5.419 million tonnes.
Zaporozhstal is among the largest steel works in Ukraine. It produces hot rolled steel and cold rolled steel of thickness range 0.5 mm to 8.0 mm. Around 70% of products output is exported to over 70 countries of the world. (Ugmk.info and Rusmet.ru)
