The steel production by Ukraine dropped considerably due to the ongoing political instability in the region. More importantly, imports and exports of scrap metals declined during the first half of the current year.
In January-May export share of the Zaporozhye region companies into EU increased. Zaporozhye share reached 29.7% of the total export volumes.
In January-June Ukrainian metal companies exported $4296.49 million worth of ferrous metals, down by 41.2% YoY ($7308.32 million).
In January-April exports from Donetsk region (without the anti-terrorist operation zone) reached $1234.8 million, down 2.6 times YoY.
In January-May Ukraine exported $3.64 billion worth of ferrous metals, down by 39.4% YoY. In May alone, exports reached $727,314 million.
In January-March Ukrainian metal companies decreased their ferrous metals export revenue by 36.3%, to $2214.45 million, YoY.
