In January-March, Ukrtruboprom enterprises increased pipe manufacture by 12.6% YoY, to 142.5 thousand tons.
Almost all companies demonstrated positive dynamics.
Thus, Interpipe Niko Tube and Trubostal increased seamless pipes output by 11.5% and by 75% respectively, Centravis produced 13.8% more stainless pipes, Interpipe NMTZ and Ukrtruboizol – 69.2% and 714.3% more electric-welded pipes.
Only Oscar decreased output – by 43.2%.
According to Ukrtruboprom CEO Georgiy Polskiy, the growth in Q1 was mostly due to the low base of last year, when the industry operated under strict electricity consumption limits. This resulted in output growth “on paper”.
“At the same time, pipe manufacture slows down. In March it fell by 15%. The main reason is the considerable increase of steel imports from China at dumping prices, which are covered by the Chinese government subsidies,” he said. (Ukrainian metal)
