The Ministry for energy and coal industry together with the State Property Fund are working on the matter of mines privatization.
According to the ministry head Vladimir Demchishin, dead-end mines will be privatized.
“I believe they can be economically useful, so I hope there would be investors interested in them”, said the minister.
“There are certain risks in the mines near the terrorists-occupied territories. On the other hand there are some mines in Western Ukraine – in Lviv and Volyn regions. I believe there would be interest in them thanks to their location and coal sales. It can be burnt, and energy can be made of it, say at Kaluzh or Burshtyn heat power stations. Then it could be exported further to the EU”, said Demchishyn. (Ukrainian Metal)
