The modernization of Mogilev Metallurgical Works opens up new prospects for the enterprise, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he visited the plant on August 25.
Mogilev Metallurgical Works has implemented a high-technology project to produce rough axles for 1520 mm-gauge railway rolling stock.
“I am glad that our designers and technicians demonstrate their great expertise when setting up a unique automated manufacturing facility and make efficient equipment in cooperation with the Italian manufacturer Danieli,” stressed Andrei Kobyakov.
According to the prime minister, the most important thing now is to make sure the new equipment will soon operate at full capacity. The equipment operates at 38% of its capacity for now. The plant’s top managers reported that decisions on selling the merchandise have yet to be made but it is clear that the products will be in demand in Belarus and abroad thanks to their high quality and competitiveness.
“The facility demonstrates a good expertise of Belarusian specialists who can automate the most complicated processing of large-size parts. It inspires certain optimism that we are ready for more ambitious tasks. This is a promising manufacturing facility. We expect it to become the main driver of the economic growth of Mogilev Metallurgical Works,” Andrei Kobyakov added. (BelTA/Ukrainian metal)
