In January Ukrainian metal companies produced 2.103 million tons of carbon steel, up by 4.4% MoM and by 8.5% YoY. This is the highest result since May 2016.

At the same time pig iron output decreased by 0.3% YoY, to 1.914 million tons, while that of rolled metal increased by 9.8% YoY, to 1.855 million tons.

Metallurgical coke output totaled 1.008 million tons, down by 7.5% YoY, while that of steel pipes went up by 42% YoY, to 77 thousand tons.

Average daily steel output in January increased to 67.8 thousand tons from 65 thousand tons in December 2016. Pig iron daily output dropped to 61.7 thousand tons from 62.7 thousand tons.

In 2016 Ukraine produced 21.41 million tons of rolled metal, 24.197 million tons of steel and 23.589 million tons of pig iron, all up by 6.4%, 5.5% and 7.8% YoY respectively. (Ukrainian metal)
