Ukrzaliznytsia continues to increase operational efficiency and improve asset management. Since the beginning of 2026, the company has successfully held scrap metal sales auctions for a total of UAH 633 million – more than for the entire year 2025.
In total, 95.7 thousand tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap were sold, which is 52% more than in 2025, when auctions were held in June-December. Of this volume, 0.3 thousand tons of non-ferrous metals were sold for UAH 46 million.
The company also fulfills its obligations to ship scrap metal on time and in full. All deliveries are made in accordance with the terms of the contracts, which allows enterprises to predict their work and confirms the reliability of Ukrzaliznytsia as a partner. Since the beginning of 2026, 59.1 thousand tons of scrap metal have already been shipped.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s scrap metal is also an important source of raw materials for Ukrainian metallurgy. Industry representatives note its role in supporting production processes and stable operation of enterprises.
To attract more market participants and increase competition in tenders, Ukrzaliznytsia recently held a meeting with business representatives on the sale of non-ferrous scrap metal.
The sale of scrap metal has not only a financial effect. Decommissioned freight and passenger cars, locomotives and other equipment that accumulate on the tracks reduce the efficiency of operational work, complicate shunting operations and affect traffic safety. Their timely decommissioning and sale allow you to optimize technological processes and increase the efficiency of the railway. (Development Ministry)
