Ukraine: Energy Minister holds meeting with leaders of coal industry unions

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal met with the leaders of the coal industry unions. They discussed the key problems that were currently of concern to miners and the measures of the Ministry of Energy to solve them.

According to the head of the Ministry of Energy, the coal industry remains one of the most important energy sectors in the conditions of a full-scale war. Therefore, the ministry maintains constant contact and closely cooperates with the trade unions.

“Currently, together with the Ministry of Finance and people’s deputies, a decision is being worked out on unblocking the accounts of state mines,” Denys Shmyhal reported.

During the meeting, the continuation of the state program to support mines for the payment of salaries was also discussed separately. As well as the reservation of employees regardless of the issue of transferring enterprises to the management of the State Property Fund in accordance with current legislation.

“We are working on issues related to updating industries, professions and positions to prevent employees from losing their right to preferential pension benefits, and to bring the regulatory framework into line with actual working conditions. Thank you to the miners for their extremely difficult work, thank you to everyone who supports the stability of the Ukrainian energy system,” said Denys Shmyhal. (Energy Ministry)
