Azerbaijan: gold imports up in January-October 2025

From January to October, Azerbaijan imported 44,441 kg of gold (gold in the form of semi-finished rods, wire and profiles, plates, sheets, strips, or tapes with a thickness of over 0.15 mm, excluding the base) worth $4.515 billion.

According to the State Statistics Committee, this is a two-fold increase in value and a 64% increase in quantity compared to the same period in 2024.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan purchased gold from Australia worth $760.2 million (-26%) in the amount of 7,104 kg (-46%), from Russia – $656.8 million (up 3.5-fold) in the amount of 6,784 kg (up 3.4-fold), from the UK – $481.3 million in the amount of 4,861 kg (there were no deliveries a year ago), from the United States of America – $458.8 million (-1%) in the amount of 4,453 kg (-25%), from Switzerland – $396.3 million (up 2.6-fold) in the amount of 3,454 kg (+75%).

While Azerbaijan imported a total of 1,724 kg of gold worth $98.3 million from abroad in 2020-2023, in 2024, it imported 41,078 kg worth $3.313 billion.

In the first 10 months of this year, Azerbaijan exported gold only to Switzerland. Switzerland received 3,971 kg of gold worth $276.82 million, up by 15% and 69%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. (Report)
