Uzbekistan: Glokal Yevroaziya plans copper mining and processing project in Surkhandarya region

The Indian company Glokal Yevroaziya plans to launch copper mining operations in the Surkhandarya region, the regional administration reports.

The head of the regional government, Ulugbek Kasymov, met with the company’s CEO, Iqbal Muhammad, to discuss plans for the development of a deposit in the Uzun district, including the extraction, purification, and processing of copper ore.

The company intends to establish an enterprise with an annual copper extraction and processing capacity of 10,000 tons. The project’s total value is estimated at $650 million. The first two stages of geological exploration have already been completed, and construction of the plant – expected to create 350 jobs – is currently underway.

In addition, the parties discussed the possibility of building educational and healthcare facilities in the area. It was agreed to prepare a feasibility study, formalize preliminary agreements, and accelerate construction works. (UzDaily)
