In January-February, the production of unprocessed and semi-processed silver in Kazakhstan amounted to 92.1 tons, down by 28% YoY. Refined silver accounted for 90.4 tons, down by 28.6%.
Last year, the country produced 697.5 tons of refined silver, down by 21.2%. 707.3 tons of unprocessed or semi-processed silver were exported, down by 19.1%.
Just over 70% of the total export volume in the sector went to just two countries — the United States and Great Britain: 259 and 238.3 tons, respectively.
In value terms, the volume of silver exports decreased by only 3.1%, to $623 million, of which $239.9 million came from the United States and $209.5 million from Great Britain.
A slight decrease in silver export volumes in value terms compared to a significant decrease in physical terms was due to the rise in price of this metal.
Thus, the prices of silver export deliveries from Kazakhstan showed an annual increase of almost 1.5 times last year. This trend has been maintained this year: in January, the figure increased by 47.2%. For comparison: a year earlier, the prices of silver export deliveries, on the contrary, showed a decrease of 1.3%. (EnergyProm)
