The Samsonivska-Zakhidna mine, which until 2014 was considered the “mine of the future”, is in the critical condition, the chairman of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Artem Lysohor has said.
After the occupation, the enterprise, located near Otamanivka, was given to a Russian investor for a symbolic price. Despite the previous promises of large-scale development, coal output and new machinery purchase, the reality shows the opposite.
“Last year it was said that the mine would resume operation, bit it appears, that they have changed their mind,” Lysohor has said.
Before the Russian occupation, the mine was one of the major coal producers of the region. (Ukrainian metal)
