Kazakhstan: Kostanay region to build steel plant

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, on a working trip to Kostanay region, has visited local industrial companies.

The region’s industrial output in 11 months of 2024 is estimated at 2.5 trillion tenge, with the share of processing industry reaching 72%.

The region has implemented six major industrial projects worth 124.7 billion tenge, creating 1,301 jobs.

Caspian Steel QZ specializes in production of bar stocks. The capacity of the enterprise is 450,000 thousand tons per year. In 2024, the company produced 311,400 tons of rolled stock and exported 112,600 tons of products to the amount of 32 billion tenge.

A new plant with a capacity of 1 million tons of steel feed is planned to be built too. $650 million is set to be invested in the plant and 600 new jobs are to be created. Due to this, the share of processing industry in the region may increase to 12.3%.

Olzhas Bektenov highlighted the importance of developing small and medium businesses around major productions and noted that economic growth was achieved through the localization and new plants, which would help improve the country’s wellbeing. (Kazinform)
