Kazakhstan’s mineral resource base includes 987 reserves of solid minerals, the industry and construction minister Kanat Sharlapaev has said during a government meeting.
According to Sharlapaev, Kazakhstan has observed growth in iron, manganese, gold, uranium, oil and gas reserves in the past 30 years.
“However, the rate of replenishing copper, zinc, lead and aluminum reserves is behind the replenishment of aforementioned mineral resources, providing an added boost for conducing more thorough geological works,” he said.
The minister added that the country’s gold replenishment rate stood at 1.2, meaning that the volume of proven reserves was more than that of gold production.
“The copper replenishment rate is 0.7. The country’s copper reserves in the public accounting will last for over 40 years. Subsoil users actively exploring future copper deposits,” said Sharlapaev. (Kazinform)
