Interpipe is testing a new logistics route to supply its products to the European Union countries using both railroad and automobiles, in particular, via a terminal in Polish Chelm.
Answering a question on using internal waterways, Interpipe procurement and logistics director Olexiy Yanovskiy said: “Interpipe has been carefully studying the possibility of using the Danube to ship products to the EU. Yet, the current level of the service does not allow competing with direct automobile transportation, neither from the point of view of economy, nor transit time”.
Instead, now the company is testing shipping products via railroad cars to the terminal in Chelm. From there the products are reloaded on trucks and shipped to end customers. (Ukrainian metal)
