In 2023, the European Union decreased iron ore imports from third countries by 11% YoY, to 72.75 million tons.

Imports have been decreasing for the second year in a row. Thus, in 2022, imports amounted to 81.72 million tons, down by 12.7%, while in 2021 – 93.58 million tons, up by 20.2%.

Ukraine was the third largest supplier of iron ore to the EU – 13.4 million tons, up by 3.7%. (Ukrainian metal)
