Ukrlitiyvydobuvannya had two options to extract lithium-containing ore in Kirovohrad region: either at a quarry or in a mine.
“We have stopped on the mine method, as the environment component is important for us. We want to be esg-friendly,” Denis Alyoshin, the company strategic development director, has said.
According to him, Ukraine is not a part of the EU yet, but the company believes, that in the next couple of years, the country will join the EU. Thus, the company performs all its activities according to the highest European standards. The mine method deals much less damage to the environment than the quarry method.
“The mine would cost much more to the project investors, but we still chose this method. We will go down to around 600 meters inside the deposit. The second stage will be the construction of a processing factory, where the ore will be transformed into petalite concentrate,” he added. (Ukrainian metal)
