The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree to increase manufacture of non-ferrous and precious metals at Almalyk Mining and Processing Works.

The project to develop the Yoshlik I deposit will be carried out in 2 stages. The first stage, in 2020-2024, sees the development of the deposit and the construction of a processing factory No. 3 with the capacity of 60 million tons of ore per year.

The second stage presupposes the increase the capacity of the copper-smelting plant in 2021-2025.

Following the first stage, the volume of cathode copper output will increase from 108 thousand tons to 290 thousand tons, gold – from 15 tons to 38 tons and silver – from 96 tons to 203 tons.

At the second stage of the project a processing factory No. 4 will be constructed with the capacity of 50 million tons. In 2024-2028, cathode copper capacities will increase to 400 thousand tons, gold – to 50 tons and silver – to 270 tons.

Investments in the project will amount to $8.275 billion. (Ukrainian metal)
