Social standards of ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih are one of the highest in mining and metallurgical industry of Ukraine. Last year, social expenses of the company amounted to UAH 432.4 million.

Traditionally, the most considerable part of funds, namely UAH 179.7 million, was allocated for rest and health improvement in 2019. Last summer almost 11 thousand of employees, their children and family members, veterans of AMKR and its subsidiaries rested at the company’s facilities located by the Azov and the Black Seas.

Trip vouchers to recreation facilities (Azov, Alye Parusa) and children camps (Burevestnik, Parus) were provided to employees at preferential price. Rest camps were free of charge. Vouchers demand to Maryanovka, Volna and Rassvet goes up from year to year. For instance, 36m389 vouchers were issued during the summer season, up 4-fold YoY.

Except for summer holidays, employees of AMKR and its subsidiaries have got an opportunity to improve health in Dzherelo health care center all year round and to purchase voucher from external agency to rest in Ukraine and abroad (the company compensates a part of its cost in line with the joint project “Package Tour for Leave”, supported in 2019 by two primary trade union organizations – primary organization of Mining and Metallurgy Trade Union of Ukraine (top largest) and of primary organization of Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine). During the year, over 6.5 thousand of employees and their family members spent their vacations in health care centers, which do not belong to the company.

Another important area of social policy is the health of employees and prevention of occupational diseases as well as conducting regular medical examinations. For this purpose, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih has its own medical center, which includes two policlinics and medical units network within the Company. UAH 53.6 million were allocated for their maintenance. The company expenses for employees’ voluntary health insurance amounted to UAH 14 million.

Transportation to work and back (including winter period) cost the company UAH 26.8 million, and meal service for employees – UAH 34.6 million. Almost UAH 50 million were spent by the company for maintenance and repair of public and social facilities. Allocations to trade unions for cultural and sport events, health improvement of employees and their family members were equal to UAH 17 million. A lot of events are conducted in Metalurhiv Culture Palace – another public amenity. UAH 15.3 million were allocated for its maintenance.

In 2019, the amount of various social aids was almost UAH 28 million. Traditionally, the company provided financial aid for some categories of employees: single mothers and fathers, widows, widowers, trustees, multi-child families on the occasion of the beginning of school year. Aid was paid for children aged under 16. New Year presents were purchased for employees’ children aged from 1 to 15.

Moreover, the company continued the implementation of educational projects for young citizens of Kriviy Rih. The 6th training season started in ArcelorMittal Academy in autumn 2019. It had the biggest number of participants – in English, IT and Young Engineers Schools. Over 1500 children of the employees aged 6 to 17 visited the classes. For that purpose, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih allocated UAH 2.5 million.

During the holidays, the children had a chance to visit training master classes “Be in Trend” and entertainment activity as a part of Vacations with ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih project.
