In 2019 Kazakhstan intends to mine 22,742 tons of uranium, up by 5% YoY.
Kazakhstan accounts for almost 40% of the global uranium output.
At the same time, prices on the uranium market are low, so Kazakhstan tries to produce high-added value goods.
In particular, Ulbinsky Iron and Steel Works will produce fuel assemblies for nuclear power plants with the capacity of 200 tons of assemblies per year to be exported to China.
The cost of the project is estimated at 49 billion tenge ($127 million). (Ukrainian metal)
