Norilsk Nickel has connected its two mines under the second stage of the project to construct the Komsomolsky mine.
The connection of the Komsomolsky and Skalistiy mines at the depth of 950 meters was carried out by ways of holing-through.
According to experts, holing-through is a rare event in capital construction.
It will result in combined air circulation between the mines and excavation works in both directions.
The first stage of the mine was commissioned in 2017.
With the second stage the mine capacity will grow by 400 thousand tons of ore per year. (Ukrainian metal)
